The client
Access Arts Croydon is the digital access resource hub for arts organisations taking part in This is Croydon, Croydon’s 2023 London Borough of Culture programme, and beyond. It offers an access manifesto, practical resources and a library of physical access equipment, from sensory aids to caption projectors.
What I did
Working from designs by Designblock, I built a custom WordPress theme that turns a lot of practical guidance into something clear and inviting.
- Two clear steps. The homepage asks organisations to sign up to the manifesto first, then points them to the resources.
- The manifesto. A few short questions before viewing, so the team can see who is using it and where, plus a downloadable version.
- Resources by access need. Colour-coded sections for learning disability, physical disability, deaf and hearing loss access and more, each with its own page of guidance, all managed with ACF.
- Free and paid services. The physical resource library and consultancy, with a downloadable list of equipment and routes to get in touch.
Result
The hub gave arts organisations across the borough one clear place to find access guidance and equipment during the Borough of Culture year.
Chris turned a lot of practical access guidance into a website that is clear, friendly and easy to use. It gave arts organisations across Croydon one place to find what they needed during the Borough of Culture year.
